Summer of Fun, Days 32-34

On Monday we made mud.  This is one of the kids' favorite things to do.  I really could give them a garden hose and a pile of dirt and be good all year!

On Tuesday we went swimming at the Cotton's.  The kids had so much fun.
Abigail has prayed to God five times thanking Him for letting her go to the Cotton's.
Two of the sweetest girls you will ever know

 Jackson got to come, too!

On Wednesday morning we went to Dee and Papa's and swam with Papa.

It was big fun.  Papa loves how Aaron swims all around the pool.  He's playing tag with the big kids now!

Summer of Fun, Day 31

Sunday may have been the best Summer of Fun day yet!  The kids bought seeds to plant and they just had a blast.  Aaron, especially, loves that sort of thing.  He has planted several things this year.

Aaron picked Pumpkins (!), chives and forget-me-nots (which he thinks are blue bonnets).  Abigail picked Sunflowers (!), basil and spinach

Aaron's chives are in a pot and his flowers are in a bed and his pumpkins are in a really big planter.

We had to find a place big enough for Abigail's sunflowers.  Her other too are in a side garden.

 Aaron worked so hard digging

They used their own tools.

We can't wait to see their efforts pay off, but they are already so proud!

Summer of Fun, Day 30

On Saturday we celebrated the 4th of July at Grandad and Mimi's house.
After we swimming we had a good old fashioned sing along.  I always say Abigail got her personality from her Aunt Susan.  Don't they fit well together?

Aaron requested Amazing Grace and it was beautiful

We were very lucky to be joined by a princess

Summer of Fun, Day 29 (The 4th of July)

We spent the morning at Kim and John's

The kids swam their hearts out and had a fantastic time.

It's amazing to watch them now.

Aaron swam the whole length of the pool after jumping off the diving board.

They discovered pool noodles for the first time.

Kim made fajitas with a homemade marinade and John grilled them.  SO good.  Then we took home some tomatoes the kids had planted.

Summer of Fun, Day 28

Today is PJ Day at the Allen House!  Abigail chose Christmas PJs and Aaron is wearing one of his favorite pairs - which is worn out!  He desperately needs new PJs, but I'm not sure he'd wear them.  It was also movie day.  The kids got to watch Disney Nature's Oceans.  Aaron has been dying to see this.  We down loaded it for the cruise, but couldn't get it to work until we got home.  Abigail got bored halfway though, she's not into long stretches of screen time.  She went upstairs and played.  She's in the precious stage of playing and talking and creating a play environment that you hear narrated.  It was one of my favorite stage's of Aaron's.  He plays more quite now, building.
John and Kim are letting me borrow one of their cameras for a bit and I spent the morning reading the manual and playing with it, so I took lots of pictures in different settings.

My kids were such sweet subjects.

This is Aaron's Lego station.  Abigail is not allowed to touch it, but she loves to watch him work.

I figured out how to use the flash and was trying different things there.  The kids thought that was fun.

Summer of Fun, Day 27

On Wednesday the kids went to the Golz's in the morning. And then they both threw massive fits when they had to come home.  They would live there.  Seriously.

Before they went Abigail lined up everything in her room.  Her shoes, her bows, her rubber bands.  Rows of stuff throughout her room.  I don't know why.
Aaron spent the morning rebuilding one of his Lego fire trucks.  He is so into this right now.  He spends hours building and rebuilding.

Abigail dressed herself and she insisted on wearing a coat which Janice said she refused to take off even when they played outside in the summer heat.  The coat was actually mine and it is gorgeous.  She chose a pink bow bigger than her head, pink and white shorts and her 'Princess Shoes'.  They are white patent leather with pink flowers.  She looked like she was going to church.  In 1950.

After the Golz's we went to Target.  Everyone commented on Sweet Pea's outfit.  Aaron had his shirt on backwards.  Bless it.

Summer of Fun, Days 25 and 26

On Monday morning we went swimming at Dee and Papa's

We always read a book before we leave

On Tuesday we went back to the library for more prizes.  They let Aaron do a second round on the Reading Club since he finished so quick.  The kids dressed themselves.  Aaron's shirt and shorts in no way match and Abigail is wearing her Minnie Slippers (and he gymnastics hair).  On the way home we figured out that her slippers stink BAD.
