Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday and a look at our week.

Tuesday July 20, 2010

Jory and I had a Memorial to go to in the afternoon, so Aaron and I had a short day together. We played outside during the morning.

Wednesday July 21, 2010

Leslie and the girls came over and brought crafts! It was so fun and then we all went to lunch.

Thursday July 22, 2010

Aaron and I went to visit Kimmie for a little bit in the afternoon.

Friday July 23, 2010

Our sweet friend Debbie is in the hospital, so Aaron and I paid her a visit (and took her a Sonic Diet Cherry Coke). She was very appreciative and just loved seeing Little Man.

Saturday July 24, 2010

We had such a fun day together! Jory and Aaron went for a run in the morning and then in afternoon we went to Bass Pro! Aaron loved it! He hasn't been since we went with Brennan about a year ago!

Sunday July 25, 2010

After church, Kimmie and Papa came over for a visit and they brought Babe's Chicken! So good and such a nice visit!

Monday July 26, 2010

Aaron and I were around the house all day and this is the only picture I took!

I hope you had a good week. We have a very exciting week ahead - I can't wait to share it!

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday

Tuesday July 13, 2010

Aaron spent the morning with Leslie and the girls and had such a good time that he tried to go home with them! After he resigned himself to staying with me he embarked on this very intense project of I have no idea what. I do know that it occupied him for a really long time. Wednesday July 14, 2010

We went to Leslie's house to swim. Aaron had such a fun time. Grace and Catherine really wanted him to be able to swim a little more than he is, but it was still good times.
Thursday July 15, 2010
Kimmie stopped by during the day to drop off some clothes and shoes she had found for Aaron. Aaron got to show her his room and it was great to show it off. She hasn't been here since the furniture got here and she really liked seeing the house put together. That evening, we went over to Dallas and had dinner with friends of ours that we knew from Tyler. They moved here about two years ago and it was so fun to reunite with them. Aaron was a charmer.
Friday July 16, 2010
Aaron and I went over to Maria's and Aaron and Brielle were so sweet playing together!

Saturday July 17, 2010
We spent the morning at church because Les and Leslie Parrott were guest speakers. It was phenomenal and Aaron did great in the nursery. He does very well at this church. After we got home we had lunch and Jory said, 'we may have had messier lunches, but I don't recall them'. Thus, a naked baby.

Sunday July 18, 2010
We had such a fun day! Debbie and Alana came over and Alana and Aaron were so cute together! And I took no pictures. So here's the monkey man getting ready for bed.

Monday, July 19, 2010
Today was our day to stay home - whew! We enjoyed it and can you see how cute these new sandals are??? Kimmie found them at a Gymboree Outlet.

Have a great week!

His hands in his pockets and his pockets in his pants

I just thought this was so funny...Aaron discovered his pockets! This was completely unprompted and I thought it was so cute.

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday and a look at our week.

Tuesday July 6, 2010

My friend Ann came over and brought her precious girls, Gracie and Rachel. Everyone had a lot more fun than you can tell in this picture! Rachel is such a little mother, so I got to relax while she looked after Aaron! Ann and I had a great time catching up - it was a very nice day. Wednesday July 7, 2010

Normally we get together with Leslie and the girls on Wednesday, but they had company in town and had to rearrange. So we turned this day into our cleaning day.
Thursday July 8, 2010
Aaron and I met my friend Suzanne and her children, Katie and Knox for lunch. I didn't get any pictures of that, but we had a great time. Katie and Knox are precious children. I had not seen them since they were very little and they so impressed me. I had such a nice time chatting with Suzanne.

Friday July 9, 2010
Aaron and I stayed around the house and when it wasn't raining he got into the mud!

Saturday July 10, 2010
We headed out to John and Kim's lake house. Here is Aaron getting ready for his first boating experience.

Sunday July 11, 2010
Another day on the boat...

When we got back from the lake, Grandad came to visit. He hasn't seen the house since we got it put together and he especially wanted to see Aaron's room. Well, I think he just wanted to see Aaron. He and the Little Man had such a good time playing together.

Monday July 12, 2010
I took Aaron to a play date for a MOPS group I am going to join in the fall. Everyone was so nice and Aaron had a blast! It was at a fun park and there were bubbles!

Big Day!

Aaron turned 16 months old today and he celebrated with a day at the lake! We went to Kimmie and Papa's Lake House on Saturday and came back today. Aaron had a blast! Sandie did not have a blast. Mr. Aaron wanted a whole lot more to do with her than she did with him.
Daddy and Aaron on a boat ride.

Oh how he loves the lake!

Look who's driving!

The Cup

These are some random pictures from the week and this is a random post, but this is something that I get asked about all of the time. Aaron drinks from a regular cup without help. He is also very proficient with a water bottle (a regular 20 ounce Ozarka bottle). People comment to me all the time how funny it looks to see a 'baby' hoisting around his water bottle. My friends with kids Aaron's age are fascinated watching him drink from regular cups and glasses. They swear their kids couldn't do it.
So here's the story. When Aaron was 6 months old, we started introducing the sippy cup. He wasn't real interested and we weren't real concerned. When he hit 9 months we started pushing harder knowing that he would be weaned from the bottle at a year. Aaron would not drink from a sippy cup. We were told by many that it was the type of cup. So I bought different cups. We now own fourteen if anyone needs some.
Aaron refused the sippy. I was told that he wouldn't let himself dehydrate and if I really wanted him to drink from a sippy cup I could only serve his formula in them. I did not want to do that to him and I was pretty sure that the world wouldn't stop spinning if we had to go straight to a regular cup. But I did keep trying to some extent.
A week before he turned one, I gave it one more push knowing the bottle was about to go away and envisioning lots of spilled milk. During one of his feedings, I took his bottle, opened it and poured it into a sippy right in front of him. I then tried to feed him from the sippy. He took the cup from me and threw it across the room. Aaron is an easy-going child and this was not typical behavior. At all. I decided right then, 'this is stupid'. From that moment on, Aaron has drank only from regular cups. If someone gives him a sippy, he will hand it back and motion for the lid to be removed. I am not kidding. I really can not remember any significant spills. Occasionally, he will pour his water onto the carpet because that's really fun, but most of the time we have no issues. I tell people who are impressed not to be because (1) it's not like we trained him to drink from a cup, he trained us and (2) their kids probably really could drink from a cup, there's just zero reason to try it if they will happily drink from spill-proof sippies.

So, there's our story.

Cheesing

Aaron has recently discovered how to 'cheese' for the camera. I take his picture and show it to him and he laughs and then tries a different pose. We can do this for long periods of time. We were doing it after lunch today.
Aaron has quite the personality, but he is still very sweet and loving. He gives good hugs and sweet kisses and he'll cuddle on our laps before he goes to bed.

But he also plays hard and laughs hard and is a huge ham. He loves to make you laugh.

He is trying harder to imitate the words we say. He is still pretty non-verbal when it comes to actual words, but he'll talk all day long. We just don't understand most of it. He can sure find a way to let you know what he wants, though. And he is still using several signs.

He is eating with a spoon and a fork more and more. He is very determined. He is still an awesome eater and he likes most foods.

We are blessed with such a sweet, easy, fun boy. We love him so much!
