The Kindness of Strangers

I have been following Rebekah's blog for well over a year. Her daughter, Cilla, was born two days before Aaron and we went through pregnancy 'together'.
I have now met Rebekah and she is just as sweet in person as she is online. But even before I met her, she knew that I was moving to Dallas and she put me in touch with two of her friends who live here!

These women do not know me, but they both were so sweet to invite me to do things with them and their friends and their children! One of them, Laura, is pictured below. She has a five-month-old son named Braysen. She joins several other moms every Wednesday for a few hours with their babies. She invited me to join them!!!

I couldn't go last Wednesday, but I could this Wednesday and they were meeting at the Dallas Arboretum. Which, by the way, is very cool. It is also kind of pricey and Laura has a membership that she got me in for free using!

Laura may very well be the kindest person I have ever met. She was so genuinely nice and all of the other moms were, too. I felt very comfortable even though I hadn't met any of them before. I had such a fun time and Aaron did, too. He was definitely the Old One - he showed all the moms what they have to look forward to in just a few short months!

Wordless Wednesday

Project Life Tuesday

It is Project Life Tuesday and we have had such a big week to share.

Tuesday April 20, 2010

Aaron and I met Maria, Brielle and Emma (sleeping in the back of the double stroller) for a walk. This is a really nice walking path. The kids loved it and Maria and I got to chat as we strolled. Wednesday April 21, 2010

We went to a MOPS meeting in Tyler! I have not been since we moved, but I really wanted to go to this one since the Magills were singing and my table was providing food and I just miss all of our friends from Tyler! After MOPS, Aaron and I went to the Potpourri House with Allison and Aaron's future wife Kate and Jacquelyn and Emerson. Aaron ate most of the tomatoes from the salad bar prompting much awe.

Thursday April 22, 2010
Aaron and I met Ann in Allen at the Premium Outlets and did some shopping. Aaron did great being confined to his stroller for a few hours, but then he needed a break and we needed lunch so we went to Nate's.
Friday April 23, 2010
After Aaron's morning nap we took him to Kimmie and Papa John's where we left him for the weekend so that we could celebrate our anniversary! We headed to Dallas where we had a hotel downtown and an entire weekend planned around trying as many restaurants as possible in a 48 hour period. This is Shrimp and Grits from Screen Door.

Saturday April 24, 2010

We had such a nice morning lazing around our hotel before we ventured out into Dallas. It was a beautiful day and we did a lot of walking and shopping. Jory has been really wanting to eat at S & D Oyster Company because he loves it and it has been too long, so we planned our morning around being near S & D when it opened. Because of that, we walked in within 60 seconds of it opening at 11am for lunch and I was able to snap this picture of NO ONE in S&D. That is an occurance never to be repeated, I am sure. By the time we finished our lunch every table was filled!

Sunday April 25, 2010

Oh, it was so hard to return home from our weekend together. We enjoyed it more than we could say, but we also missed our Munchkin, so we headed to Benbrook Sunday where we found a brand new sandbox constructed just for the Little Man. It is quite the sandbox and we understood that he enjoyed it immensely.

Monday April 26, 2010
One of the places that Jory and I went in Dallas this weekend was the brand new Whole Foods that has been written about so much. It really was fabulous and since the 26th is our actual anniversary, Aaron and I went back there to get some fun things for dinner. This is Aaron clapping for the cheese samples. Really.

We hope your week was a great as ours!

Look Mom!

Isn't this the coolest piece of dirt ever? It's all packed down and it's got grass and sticks already in it! What more could a boy ask for?

Project Life Tuesday

Today is Project Life day. Here's what we've been doing over the last week.

Tuesday April 13, 2010

Aaron and I drove to Fort Worth and had lunch with our good friend Debbie. Debbie is wonderful and she loves Aaron so much. It has been a long time since we've seen her - she is one of the perks of moving back to the metroplex. We had a super long lunch because we had so much catching up to do. Mr. Aaron sat very patiently. We were so proud of him. There was a girl a few months younger than he at a nearby table and he flirted with her a bit, so that kept him occupied. After lunch we went outside and let Aaron run off some energy before getting back in the car. Wednesday April 14, 2010

Aaron and I went to Kimmie's for a few hours where Aaron learned how to water plants. Okay, he only learned how to water his shoes, but it is a start.

Thursday April 15, 2010
Aaron and I did our cleaning day on Thursday since we had gone to Benbrook on Wednesday, so we didn't go anywhere this day. This picture was taken after Aaron's lunch of tomatoes and blackberries. Not for lack of other offerings, mind you. Meet our pseudo vegetarian.

Friday April 16, 2010
This was a quiet day around the house for us. We worked on self-feeding yogurt.

Saturday April 17, 2010
We had such a good family weekend! On Saturday, after Aaron's morning nap, we loaded up and drove to Ikea. We were there for well over an hour and Aaron was an angel. We are amazed sometimes at how easy he is. This is him pushing the cart. He got really good at that - such a big boy! He could turn it around and get exactly where he wanted to go. After Ikea we all took a long afternoon nap!

Sunday April 18, 2010
We went to early service at Prestonwood in Dallas. We really like that church and if we weren't moving we would join there. But since our house is 30 minutes away, we have been trying churches over in that area. That has made for long Sundays and we weren't sure what the traffic was going to be like this weekend with Nascar so we stayed close to home and went to Prestonwood. It was great and Aaron did great and we had plenty of time Sunday afternoon to go to The Container Store!

Monday April 19, 2010
Today was such a fun day. We met Rebekah and Cilla in Hillsboro and did some shopping. I got Aaron several things, but mostly we just had a wonderful time hanging out with the Harrises! I had never met Rebekah in person and she was just every bit as sweet as I would have imagined and this Cilla is just the most precious thing. Aaron loved her!

We have a fun-filled week ahead, so Project Life should be great next Tuesday. Have a wonderful week yourselves.

More pictures from the College Station trip

Aaron enjoying the front porch at the cottage we stayed in. Aaron rearranging the rock garden at said cottage. They had it all wrong, for sure.

Aaron getting a little work done while the boys played golf.

Aaron building a mini bonfire with sticks near the golf course.

Aaron asking where his bubbles are.

I Dig Dirt...Some More

Aaron did this for an hour today - until I made him quit to eat lunch! Give that boy some dirt and let him outside and he is good!

Project Life Tuesday

I have decided to start participating in Project Life. My friend Meg does it and I look so forward to her posts each Tuesday. So, I plan to do a post each Tuesday with a picture for each day of the prior week and a brief summary of that day. It will give me a nice journal for 2010 and it will guarantee that even if I get lazy the rest of the week you'll have good pictures on each Tuesday. So, here goes:

Monday April 5, 2010

Aaron and I had lunch at my friend Maria's. Maria actually moved here from Tyler right before we did. So, she had a chance to scope the place out for us! She is well settled into her house and Aaron and her daughter Brielle were making good use of the upstairs playroom here. I must say that Aaron managed to find the only dump truck in the house!

Tuesday April 6, 2010

I have two pictures for this day - it was a very big day. First, Aaron got his first haircut! This is Amanda, a very sweet girl that cut Mr. Aaron's hair. He was not thrilled with the concept, but he eventually just conceded his fate. He did quite well!

In the next picture, Aaron is enjoying a snack in his new house! Jory and I signed a contract on a house this day and we went over to meet with some contractors before we signed the final amendments. We were there quite a while and it fell during snack time, so Aaron plopped down and got acquainted with his new kitchen floor.

Wednesday April 7, 2010

Wednesday is the day that Aaron and I clean the house so we don't usually go anywhere. But we do go get the mail and then spend some outside time at our apartment after that. This is during that time.

Thursday April 8, 2010

This is Aaron strapped in for a big road trip to College Station. We left at his bed time so he already had his jammies on. Daddy and Papa John had a big golf game planned for Friday and they rented Kimmie, Aaron and I some awesome digs to hang out in while they were gone.

Friday April 9, 2010

Oh my word, y'all. Aaron got his picture made with RC Slocum. This may be a framer.

And, that night, Kim and John surprised Jory and I with Date Night! We got to go to my favorite restaurant in the whole country (I am not kidding), Christopher's. If you know me, you know of my infatuation with this restaurant. This is a picture of the house filet which Jory gets every time because it is phenomenal. I get something different each time. Friday I got Shrimp Three Ways. Oh my word, you do not know.

Saturday April 10, 2010

Before heading back home we stopped by the Alumni Center at Texas A&M. This is a picture of Three Generations of Aggies standing in the giant Aggie Ring.

Sunday April 11, 2010

After church we went to Grandad and Mimi's for the afternoon. When I came in the house this little white dog followed me! Aaron thought he should stay, but Grandad disagreed and we returned him to the neighbors. Doesn't he look so cute in his overalls? Grandma Sheri and Papa Tom sent him those. They are Wishes and Kisses!

Monday April 12, 2010

Aaron is always pretty cranky the day after a weekend trip. Today was no exception, so we had a low key day. This is a picture of him walking away from me. That was pretty much the tune of the day! HA!
