Our Day

Aaron and I had a fun day today. Toby and Ryan came to the house to pick up Jory for their annual Memorial Weekend Golf Tournament in Arkansas. Aaron wanted to play baseball

So Daddy showed him how...in the game room

Uncle Rock pitching

Aaron convincing his 'uncles' to give him snacks.

Isn't this a sweet picture with Uncle Rock?

And Uncle TC

Aaron asked Toby to push him on his tricycle and Toby gladly obliged. It was so fun to watch Toby and Ryan playing with Aaron. He had such a good time with them and they were so sweet with him.

When they left Aaron had lunch. I bought this booster seat recently and it has been great. It is super compact and so easy to take anywhere. It fits on any chair. I take it anywhere there might not be a high chair since Aaron is too mobile to feed when he's not strapped in. It has made my life a lot easier come meal time and it is working great at the house since we haven't taken the high chair over yet.

While Aaron took a super long nap I did some work in the house. This is 'My Kitchen Prayer'. It was my grandmother's and she moved it to every house she lived in. They moved a lot because Grandpap was a Methodist Minister. I have moved it with me for years now and it is always the first thing I hang up in a new house.

Tonight Aaron was such a ham after his bath. He figured out how to hold this block in his mouth so that it covered his nose and he went around snorting like a pig! I was laughing so hard. He LOVES to get others tickled.

Hope your day and your Memorial Weekend is great!

Some Pictures and Updates

I think Aaron is at a great stage right now. He's sweet and fun. He loves to prove that he understands you, so following directions is really fun for him. When we say, "go put away your toys" we don't get a tantrum, we get a boy excited to prove that he can and so proud of himself when he does.
He understands most directions. He can put something in the laundry, the trash or his room. He can find things that he's put somewhere. He is doing more and more on his own. He is completely self-sufficient with drinking from a cup now. He has also started eating toast and sandwiches that aren't cut up - just eating them like a big person. We're still working on the spoon, though.

He can point out a lot of things in pictures. If you show him a picture and ask him where the whatever is, he usually gets it. He gets confused between cats and dogs, though, and he'll insist that you are wrong on that one.

If you ask him where his daddy is, he'll point to Jory. If you ask him where his mama is, he'll point to himself. I'm obviously not making a very big impression. He can point out a lot of his body parts.

He is a real ham. And he's a real boy. We are working on touching gentle, but he's a wrestler for sure. He loves to dance and he loves music. He loves to laugh and he loves to make others laugh. He loves to do something that causes people to clap and praise him. He gets very proud of himself. And he loves to give sweet hugs!

Project Life Tuesday

It is time for Project Life Tuesday. I did an awful job of taking pictures this week, but I still wanted to post, so I'll just apologize in advance for the pictures.

Tuesday May 18, 2010

Really? Is this the best picture I could get? Aaron and I met Laura and Braysen at a park for a picnic lunch. It was really fun except that Aaron is all over the place and Braysen isn't and this is what Aaron thought I meant by 'let's take a picture of you with Braysen'. Wednesday May 19, 2010

Really? Is this the best picture I could get? Aaron and I went to Tyler for MOPS. They were having Spa Day and I didn't want to miss out. Aaron went to nursery at MOPS with Kate and had a great time. I think it is the most fun he's ever had in church nursery. Then Charity had several of us over to her house for lunch. She has a play kitchen and Aaron loves those. This is him making dinner for his girlfriend Kate.
Thursday May 20, 2010
Really? This is the best picture I could get? Debbie brought Aaron and I lunch this day and I completely forgot to take a picture while she was there. I really should have, too, because we all ate on the floor - how fun is that? So, this is actually Aaron just eating dinner on a Thursday. In a Pearl Snap Shirt, though. That's pretty cool.

Friday May 21, 2010
I'll stop now since we are all painfully aware that my picture taking was not at its finest this week. Aaron and I met Kim and did some shopping in Dallas. Then we went to lunch. It was fun and Aaron was fun and I took zero pictures. Then when we were leaving Kimmie showed Aaron his new ball and bat that she had in the back of her car. I threw him in there and tried to get a picture. This is the best I could do.

Saturday May 22, 2010
John and Kim came over Saturday as Kim had not yet seen our new house. They brought Aaron this tricycle for the driveway. He really liked it and he begs us to put him on it and push him around.

Sunday May 23, 2010
Jory worked on the yard in the afternoon and Aaron helped by rearranging the rocks. Then we took a walk downtown. It was a sweet day.

Monday May 24, 2010
Aaron and I had to be at the house most of the day for work that was being done. He got some good outside time in and then took a great nap while I did some unpacking. By about 3:30, though, we were both ready to go so I took a hint from my really smart friend Leslie and headed to Sonic for Happy Hour. By the time we got back the repairs we done and we could hit the road!

Project Life Tuesday

Today is Project Life Tuesday.

Tuesday May 11, 2010
This is the day that we took possession of our new house. Aaron and I went over to get the keys, take a few boxes and check it out. This is him playing in the front yard. He really enjoys the yard and seems very comfortable in the house. He even knows where Aaron's Room is! Wednesday May 12, 2010
I had a meeting for this Fall's BSF and it was near Mimi and Grandad's, so Mimi babysat Aaron for a couple of hours. Grandad got away from work for a little bit to visit. Aaron had a wonderful time!

Thursday May 13, 2010
Ann had Aaron and I to lunch at her house. Look at this big boy! He is sitting in a big person chair all by himself (no booster). It's an armed chair, so he was pretty safe, but he did so well and looked so big to me! He also devoured the broccoli quiche that Ann made. I was so proud!

Friday May 14, 2010
Kim called Thursday night super excited about a piece of furniture she found in Fort Worth. She wanted me to come check it our for our new house. So after Aaron's morning nap I headed that direction. Jory told me to go straight there, look at the furniture and head straight home because there was a nasty last morning thunder storm brewing. But, you see, Kim needed some Aaron time and it was almost lunch time when we got done looking at the furniture and...Anyway, Jory was kind enough not to say 'I told you so' when I called him and told him that I had moved about 5 miles in an hour and I was giving up and going to Grandad's for the afternoon. Grandad and Mimi and Aaron were all perfectly happy with that turn of events and it was fun for me to see Aaron playing so hard with his grandparents. Mimi is quite the wrestler! Saturday May 15, 2010
I guess I should have called this the Special Mimi and Grandad edition of Project Life Tuesday. HA! We are about to live a few miles from them, do you think they are going to get sick of us??? Anyway, we went to the house on Saturday and spent the day getting some things settled in. Aaron took his first nap there and we are enjoying getting him gradually accustomed to the new home. Mimi and Grandad stopped by to see the house and they had a mini picnic with Aaron on the front lawn.

Sunday May 16, 2010
After church we went to the house again and let Aaron nap there while we did a few things. He went right down for his nap this time and we were so pleased. We don't have much in the way of food preparation amenities at the house yet so we stopped at Subway for lunch first. Aaron was such a good eater. We are enjoying taking him out more and more.

Monday May 17, 2010
This was our stay home and do nothing day! Look at the Munchkin enjoying it! I had SUCH a great time with my boy today!

We hope you had as nice a week as we did!

Sometimes he just looks so big to me

He was on a mission here. I am not sure what it was, but it was sure important! He was chasing poor, scared kittens here. And, my, was he persistent!
Jory picked out this outfit for Aaron when we were shopping during our anniversary trip. I think it is my all-time favorite outfit. Maybe because Daddy picked it out himself.

He heard an airplane really close and was trying to figure out what that sound was.

That's it!

I've had it with you folks - I am going to Grandma's!
