Pink or Blue?

We are so close to knowing if the next Allen will leave the hospital in Baby Pink or Baby Blue. We still have no idea and no preference. I go back and forth regularly between thinking it's a girl and a boy. If I had to choose one, I would say Boy because I secretly (or not so secretly) believe the Chinese Lunar Calendar (even though it was wrong for Aaron). Jory said if he had to pick he'd say it's a girl, but he doesn't have any reason for that - he just picked one. More people think it is a girl than a boy, but that may be because they want us to have one child of each gender.

We wanted a Biblical first name for our child. Our choices are:

Thomas Lobrecht Allen

Tommy

Abigail Elizabeth Allen

We haven't decided if Abigail will be an Abigail or an Abby, but we are leaning towards Abby.

We chose Thomas because it is my dad's name. It is also the name of Jory's uncle who Jory thought so much of. We chose to call the baby Tommy as that is the name of a friend of ours who shows us daily how to glorify God in all situations.

Lobrecht is Papa's John's last name. Since he does not have any children bearing his last name Jory wanted to honor him this way.

Abigail is just a pretty Biblical name we both like. It means 'A Father's Joy' and I love that. Elizabeth was my grandmother's middle name. I very much wanted to honor her and my husband shot down the idea of naming a daughter Shirley...Elizabeth is also my middle name and my mom's name and Jory's grandmother's name, so it is wonderful on both sides. It means 'Consecrated to God' and I love that!

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday!

Tuesday September 21, 2010

Jory had a lunch in Fort Worth, so he stopped by home on his way to see the Little Man. The Little Man was much more excited than he looks in this picture. He loves to see his daddy and especially to get surprised during the day! Wednesday September 22, 2010

We had BSF this day and Aaron had a great time at church. Jory got home early so he and I had a date night! SO nice.
Thursday September 23, 2010
This was our day to stay home and clean, but I had gotten the cleaning done the night before so Aaron and I had a together day. We took a long walk in the morning - Aaron begs to go for a walk every day. Then in the afternoon it was nice so we went up and walked around Southlake Townsquare.

Friday September 24, 2010
We spent the whole day at Kimmie's and Aaron was a wild man! We had sandbox time, pool time and lots of play time.

Saturday September 25, 2010
We cheered on the Hogs at Papa and Kimmie's and then listened to the sad end as we drove out to the lake house. Aaron had a fun day with his grandparents and Jory and I had such a relaxing evening sitting at the lake after Aaron went to bed.

Sunday September 26, 2010

Aaron and Jory went for a walk at the lake before we headed home. That night we went to church and were just thrilled by how comfortable Aaron has gotten there.

Monday September 27, 2010

We had a super fun play date at Ann's house!

In the afternoon, we met Leslie, Grace and Catherine at the park. It was fun, but I didn't get any pictures of the girls. I guess I was too busy chasing Aaron!

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday and we had a fun week!

Tuesday September 14, 2010

I had a doctor's appointment in the morning and Leslie came over to keep Aaron. He had so much fun, but I didn't get any pictures. This is from night time with Daddy.
Wednesday September 15, 2010

We had our first day of BSF. This is what I got when I told Aaron to put his shirt on! After BSF and nap Brooke came over for the afternoon. Brooke was Aaron's babysitter in Tyler and she has moved to the Metroplex. I have been coming out of my skin with anticipation of the move. Aaron had a great day with her! I think it was the second happiest I have seen him. He'll be seeing lots more of her! We just absolutely love Brooke.
Thursday September 16, 2010
This was our day to stay home and clean, but Jory had a work thing on Wednesday night and I got all of the cleaning done after Aaron went to bed so Thursday was free. We took a walk to the park and played and while and then took a long walk through our neighborhood.

In the afternoon we went to the library where we played with books. Not so much reading, but lots of playing. Aaron's favorite book right now, by the way, is Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
Friday September 17, 2010
We spent the whole day at Kimmie's! We did sandbox time, lunch time, nap time and pool time! We had a great visit!

Saturday September 18, 2010
Back to Kimmie and Papa's! I have lots of pictures from this day to post. Aaron watered the plants, took a swim and played in the sandbox. He terrorized the animals and ate a great lunch - good times!

Sunday September 19, 2010
I didn't take many pictures this day. We did church, nap and play time.

Monday September 20, 2010
We had a FUN playdate for MOPS at the church! There were so many great pictures to take, but my camera died early on. I was sad, but glad to get this picture.

Hope your week was as enjoyable as ours!

Random Updates and No Pictures

  • We had a Great doctor's appointment today! The next Allen had a heartbeat at 151. The doctor said "your uterus is growing great!" She said it really enthusiastically and proudly like I've been working real hard at that.

  • Aaron got another molar. He has twelve teeth now.

  • Here are the words that Aaron says correctly, in context, with no prompting: Mama, Daddy, Papa, Bye, Book, Bowl, Baby, Ball, Dog, No, Milk

  • More people are saying the Next Allen is a girl than a boy. Of course, almost everyone thought Aaron was a girl until the Random Asian Woman came along and changed everyone's minds.

  • I know that if you don't live in Texas you are not fully going to grasp what I am about to say, but Oh My Word. It is HOT. It is really, really hot.

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday. We didn't get out a whole lot last week, but we'll be making up for that in a couple of jam packed weeks to come.

Tuesday September 7, 2010

Today was our day to stay home and clean. This is Aaron dragging a basket of laundry to the bedroom where he helped fold it.

Wednesday September 8, 2010

We were supposed to go to Kimmie's, but Tropical Storm Hermine kept us from that and kept us indoors all day. Lots of Play-do time!

Thursday September 9, 2010
We didn't have any plans today and we just played together all day long!
Friday September 10, 2010
The weather was nice in the morning and we walked to the park. When we got there my friend Janice was there with her kids! How fun!

Saturday September 11, 2010
We all hung around the house. We did a few things around here, but we mostly just enjoyed family time.

Sunday September 12, 2010
After church Jory mowed and then I had a Thirty-one Party to do, so the day was a little broken up, but we had a nice evening together.

Monday September 13, 2010
First day of MOPS! I have been looking so forward to this and it was great! Aaron picked out his outfit and had a wonderful time!

Four Months

I am a little over seventeen weeks pregnant and I will enter my fifth month of pregnancy this week. It's hard to believe that I'm almost halfway done! The top picture was taken yesterday, the bottom picture was taken at the same time with Aaron. They don't look that much different to me, but they sure feel different. I have gained less weight than I had with Aaron (about half!), but I feel like I am showing way more. I feel like maternity clothes may come sooner with this one! Things are going well. After a completely symptom free first trimester, the second trimester (which is supposed to be the easy one) came in with a bang! I was thrown for a loop and was beginning to wonder if maybe I was done with easy pregnancies. But most symptoms are under control now and I am as comfortable as a pregnant woman can be in a State that has not yet received the memo that it is Fall!
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and next month we will have the big sonogram. We are really looking forward to that. We enjoyed so much waiting to find out Aaron's gender until he was born that I am surprised at how excited we are to learn the sex of this baby early. We still have no idea what it may be.

We have a toddler!

Aaron is eighteen months old today! Such a big boy! Words are starting to come and he is beginning to point at things and shout out what they are!
He does most things himself. He is a completely independent eater and eats almost exclusively with a fork or spoon. He drinks from cups with little supervision.

He runs, but he doesn't climb much. He throws balls overhand. He doesn't kick them much. He can walk up and down stairs holding on to a railing, but he prefers to be carried if the stairs are narrow.

He still loves dirt and his sandbox. He still loves to be outside more than anything and he begs for walks in his stroller every day.

He is a happy boy and a very sweet boy.
