A boy and his dirt pile

Aaron has a fantastic dirt pile in our back yard and lots of backhoes to work it. He spends A LOT of time there. This week before school he asked if he could play outside until it was time to go. I told him I would prefer him not get on the dirt pile.
He didn't understand my reasoning, but he obliged by playing Legos on the back patio. And he even let his sister join!

More pictures of the dress

I love this sweet girl in this sweet dress made by my sweet grandma!

What he eats

Aaron has never liked meat. Never. I was told lots of things - it's the texture, he'll get over it; it's hard to chew, when he's older he'll eat it; you don't give him enough of it...It's not like he never, ever eats any meat, but he doesn't choose it and he rarely eats more than a few bites, though sometimes he surprises us. And he really doesn't like chicken. When Abby came along we knew that Aaron's preference was just that and had nothing to do with anything else. Because that girl loves her meat and always has. All of it.
People ask me all the time what Aaron eats at Chick Fil A, one of his favorite places. A tomato sandwich and cole slaw, of course. I am not kidding. A whole wheat bun with several thick slices of tomato and a side of slaw. Not too shabby. His sister eats an entire grilled chicken breast, by the way.

He loves soy products (fake chicken, fake hot dogs, etc.). He loves anything made with black beans. He loves vegetables. Spinach tamales are one of his favorites.
Maybe some day he'll be a huge steak lover and I'll want to remember the days of tomato sandwiches and vegetarian tamales!

Springtime!

We sure have been enjoying the weather here! Of course, Aaron's outside rain or shine, cold or hot, early or late, but that's not the case yet for Abby. She can't be outside without constant supervision and I'm not so interested in playing in the cold rain!

This weekend she got to watch her daddy and her brother work on the yard. She had a great time watching (and eating some leaves).

You can see Aaron is outside in his PJs because he woke up from his nap and realized Jory was working without him! He was putting his shoes on as he was running out the door!

Dressing Abby

Dressing a girl has proven to be just as much fun as everyone said it would be (though I really enjoy dressing my boy, too!).This weekend was a special treat for me because I put Abby in a dress of mine that my grandmother had made me. I wish daily that my grandma could meet my babies and it touched my heart so to see Abigail in this dress made with loving hands.
I was saddened a bit because it was a little short and I'm afraid that's going to prove to be the case with many of my clothes - I don't have Abby's long legs!
But all the same, I thought she looked precious!

Abby's Exciting News

Abby took her first steps this weekend! We were so excited and proud.

I was doubly excited because both Jory and I were there - just like we were with Aaron. So exciting!

She was thirteen months, nine days old. It was Saturday, March 24.
Our sweet girl is growing up!

Helping Daddy

These pictures aren't good because I took them through the window. Abby was enthralled with something out the window yesterday (you can see her reflection) and when I went to check it out I saw some very hard work going on.

Aaron and Jory took several bushes out and Aaron was such a big help. He LOVES helping Daddy - especially in the yard!

Fun at Dee and Papa's

We spent a few days at Kim and John's this week. The kids had a great time - Abby started off by doing a header in the mud!We thought for sure we were going to see her first steps, but she was holding back!
Meals at Grandma's are the best!
Especially because Dee lets me do most of my eating in her arms while I put my feet up and relax!
Abby really got into the sandbox this visit.

But it was cool and we had a lot of indoor play, too.
The kids don't have a shortage of things to play with there!

Abby found a football!
