Thanksgiving

Aaron, we just got back from our Thanksgiving trip to Ohio. You did great and everyone just loved you! You seemed to have an excellent time and we were so glad!

Monday November 22, 2010

This is the day that we flew to Ohio. We were nervous because you would be sitting on our laps and we were afraid you would be so restless, but you were wonderful. You 'read' all the magazines and handouts that were in the seat back pocket in front of you. You just did that over and over for two hours. We had packed all kinds of diversions from you, but we didn't need them!

Grandpa Tom picked us up at the airport. When we got to his house you took your nap and woke up in time for dinner. You played with Buddy for a little bit before we left for dinner. You LOVED Grandma and Grandpa's dogs and cat! You hugged all over them and they were so good with you. We went to dinner at Bob Evans and you did great. Then we went home and went to
bed. You slept well at Grandma and Grandpa's and we were so glad. You do a great job of traveling and staying on your schedules. You make things so easy for us!

Tuesday November 23, 2010

We stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's all day. You played outside with Grandpa Tom a lot. You enjoyed playing in Grandma's flower pots and everyone enjoyed watching you! That evening your aunts, uncles and cousins came over for an early Thanksgiving dinner. You loved playing with your cousins. Here is a picture of you feeding Leah cereal.

After dinner we had a photographer take Christmas pictures then we opened your Christmas presents. You got a lot of fun stuff and had a great time!

Wednesday November 24, 2010

Your dad and I did some visiting during the day and you stayed home with your grandparents. They really seemed to enjoy that and so did you! That evening we had another early Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma Beth's with your uncle Doug and aunt Mindy and your cousins. You had a great time again with your cousins.

Thursday November 25, 2010

We went to see Grandma Ruth and Papa Bill during the day. They had been at Grandma and Grandpa's on Tuesday night but we didn't get any one-on-one time with them. You played so contently with their toys and they thought you were precious.

In the afternoon we had Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's with the Knox family. You watched a lot of football and here is a picture of you playing with Buddy.

Friday November 26, 2010

We flew home this day. You did great again. We went to breakfast with Grandma Sheri and Grandpa Tom and then Grandma Beth drove us to the airport. We got home in the afternoon and you took your nap. We are spending the weekend relaxing together.

A View of the Week

Dear Aaron,

I have decided to stop Blogging for a while, but I still want to keep track of your daily life. So I will continue to privately save pictures and details so that we will have them for you. I love spending every day with you and I am so proud to be your mom.

Tuesday November 16, 2010

This was a hard day. You are usually so easy, but you did not take a nap on Monday and you were overtired on Tuesday. Everything was a struggle, but we had things we needed to do so we soldiered through. We met Daddy for lunch at Luby's in Dallas. He was leaving town for the night and he hates to leave you, so we always try to see him right before he gets on an airplane. You were a good eater at lunch and so enjoyed spending time with Daddy.

Wednesday November 17, 2010

Today you were still tired, but it was getting better. We went to BSF at the church in the morning and they said you were sweet. When we got home you played outside for a while before your lunch and nap. You were playing with some pots and soil and you were so proud of what you were doing!

Thursday November 18, 2010

This was a good day! You finally got caught up on your sleep. You took a three hour nap and were back on schedule. We ran several errands and met Ann for lunch. You were so much fun at lunch. You were also a big eater. We went to Souper Salad and you ate an entire baked sweet potato before making a dent in this plate. We love how healthy you eat.

For dessert you had fruit and cottage cheese with milk to drink and you ate with a big fork. You are getting pretty good at that and you really enjoy it.

Saturday November 20, 2010

I didn't take any pictures on Friday. We stayed around the house. I did some packing for our Thanksgiving trip to Ohio, but we just kept it low key. We want to be well-rested when we get on the plane Monday.

On Saturday morning you were being silly in your high chair and I got some fun pictures.

We spent Saturday around the house, too. We just enjoyed each other and had a relaxing day. I had packed most of your clothes, so when you peed on your pants I changed you into these Christmas Pajamas and you wore them around the house all afternoon. You thought they were so funny and you kept pointing to the pictures on them. We thought you looked so cute!

Sunday November 21, 2010

In the morning you put your winter vest over your PJs, but you put it on backwards and just laughed! Right now you are taking a run with Daddy.

Tomorrow we head to Ohio for the holidays. We are excited and we hope you enjoy yourself. We also pray that you are easy during the airplane ride. We will be holding you in our laps. You are a pretty squirmy 20-month-old, so we'll leave it God to keep you calm and relaxed.

We love you, Aaron Allen!

6 Months

I am six months pregnant as of yesterday. This is a horrible picture, but it was the best I could do. I'm wearing more maternity clothes than regular now. This is precisely the time with Aaron when I thought I had been pregnant quite long enough, thank you. I feel the same with Abby. I firmly believe that a six month gestation period would be sufficient. You really have enough time to do everything you need to do, bask in the excitement of being pregnant, get as big as any woman wants to and then you just have the baby. Who needs three more months? HA! But things are going quite well. I have been trying to do all the traveling I want to do. I am starting to get uncomfortable and long car rides will soon cease. I have two trips to Tyler planned in early December and then we will be home bound until approximately Summer 2011!
On a cheery note, how cute is this outfit??? Meg gave us this for Abby. Meg is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I know and I am blessed to have her in my life. I was also super pleased because this is a 3-6 month outfit. I am awful nervous about having a lot of newborn clothes for Abby in case she comes out like her brother!

Okay, I thought I might be too proud to show this, but here it is...this is Abby's room a month ago. The tree and the castle painted on the wall are part of a Princess Mural that came with the house. The bins are all of Aaron's things that we had been storing in the attic. And, then, there's just stuff...Aaron helped quite a bit with the going through of the stuff!

It got worse before it got better...

And NOW...it is tan and mural free. THANK YOU, Kimmie and Papa. This truly may be the best baby gift ever!

I have gone through all of Aaron's stuff and put everything away, or pretty close to away. I pulled out our keepsake blankets and will have them ready for Abby. I have done so much laundry in the past week getting the Sweet Girl's clothes, blankets and burp cloths ready for her!

And here is a picture of Abby's bedding. We have it, but it will be a little while before we get furniture in the room and get it set up.

I think that's all about Abby - except that she is quite the wild child! I thought her brother was active and he had nothing on her! You can almost always catch a glimpse of her gymnastics if you glance at my stomach. She is something. She is also much, much lower than Aaron ever thought about being, so it feels so much different. While I don't believe Abby will ever do anything as painful as bruising two of my ribs and kicking them for a few months afterwards, it is a strange and uncomfortable feeling to have the weight of a child in your lower abdomen and around your organs. But I also so enjoy that I can feel her all of the time. I would sometimes not be able to feel Aaron and it made me nervous. I love knowing that Abby is energetic and growing and moving. And I love the miracle inside of me. I may not be one of those people that loves being pregnant, but I am constantly amazed, humbled and thankful for God's gift of this precious being growing in me.

Project Life Tuesday

It is time for Project Life Tuesday.

Tuesday November 9, 2010

We were supposed to meet Maria and Brielle in the morning, but Maria was sick so we spent the morning running a lot of Christmas errands. When we got home Aaron ran off some steam outside. Wednesday November 10, 2010

We had to take Daddy to the airport! Jory left for his longest trip ever. He was gone until Sunday night. Aaron spent a lot of the time he was gone saying, 'Daddy Airplane' and 'Daddy Bye Bye'! He did very well until the last day, though. By then he needed his Daddy back! Jory did such a good job of calling Aaron a lot while he was gone.

Thursday November 11, 2010

We stayed home and worked on Abby's room which is really coming along. I will post pictures soon. I didn't get any pictures of Aaron helping with that, but I did get a picture of him eating his third helping of Lima beans for dinner!

Friday November 12, 2010

What a FUN day! We met Meg and Brennan in Waco. We spent some time at a Children's Museum on Baylor's campus and then we went to lunch. Aaron's teeth were bothering him this day and he was putting everything into his mouth (yuck!), but other than that it was a perfectly lovely day. And Aaron fell right to sleep when we left and slept the whole way home. I just can't say enough how much I enjoyed this trip.

Saturday November 13, 2010

I was supposed to get a much-needed haircut and Grandad and Mimi were going to keep Aaron. Friday night, though, my hair dresser cancelled. I was really very sad, but Grandad and Mimi said they would still like to keep Aaron Saturday morning. I let them and it was nice to have some free time. This picture was taken on the way to their house.

Later that day I took another shot at getting a Christmas Card picture. Not so much.

Sunday November 14, 2010

This was a great day! Daddy came home!!!! This is a shot taken at the airport.

Earlier in the day, Aaron and I went to church and I thought he looked so cute in his Sunday Best. I actually managed to get a picture that I think will serve nicely as a Christmas Card picture. Unfortunately, I've done about half of my Christmas cards, so if you don't get a picture in yours, that's why! HA! After Jory got home he and I went to see Lyle Lovett at Bass Hall. It was SO good. The last time we saw Lyle there I was pregnant with Aaron! That time I was very early in my pregnancy though. This time I was in my third trimester and the music made Abby go crazy! Seriously, as good as the show was, I was ready for it to be over. I couldn't take any more kicking! Here's a picture of Aaron in his church clothes.

Monday November 15, 2010

We had a MOPS play date at church. Kimmie came and went with us and I hope she wasn't bored. Aaron sure enjoyed himself.

After the play date we went to lunch and Aaron's schedule got off. Normally he goes straight down for his nap after lunch or he has to sit in his high chair until nap time so he doesn't get wound up. This day we went to lunch early and got home a little after noon and Aaron played with Kimmie for about an hour. Oh my! I could not get him to settle down when she left and for the first time in as long as I can remember Aaron completely missed a nap. It was not a good afternoon at all. I finally loaded him up in the car and ran some errands. When I looked back at a stop light, Tired Boy had a burp cloth on his head!

20 Months

Aaron is 20 months old today! He is so fun! I love to play with him and he still loves to play with me. I get so much enjoyment out of my days with him.
Aaron is very sweet and very obedient. He loves to show you that he knows how to do what you asked him to do. He gives lots of hugs and kisses and loves to make you smile.

He loves books. He loves to 'read' by himself and he loves to be read to. He still loves rocks and leaves and general outside play the most.

He repeats everything we say. He is also adding more words that he says on his own. If he sees something he knows the word for (airplane, ball, dog) watch out! He will point to the item and say the word repeatedly. The words that he says on his own, in context, are: Mama, Daddy, Papa, Bye, Book, Bowl, Baby, Ball, Dog, No, Milk, Rock, Walk, Knife, Cat, Night, Blanket, Mower, Wet, Mess, Hot, Mimi, More, Medicine, Eat, Amen, Elmo, Berries, Bagel, Airplane

He is still very tall, but he's starting to average out now if his clothes size is any indication. He can still wear most of his 18 month shorts and pants. I am buying 24 month pants for the Winter and most of those work well. He is not in 2T pants yet. Even with his height, his waist is so small that the pants sag and he trips over them. He is wearing all of his 24 month shirts with no problem. I am buying 2T shirts for the Winter, though. They are a little big and I have to roll up the sleeves, but they give him room for growth. He's wearing anywhere from a 7 to an 8 in shoes depending on the type. He does have big feet. That has not changed. He is still in Size 4 diapers during the day and Size 5 in his overnight diapers.
