Aaron

Aaron turned 26 months old this week. I don't officially do birthday posts any more, but I do want to keep track of what Little Man is up to. He changes so much from month to month!

He can open all doors now. It hasn't posed a problem, but it does take away a level of comfort. He can also open and close the stair gates. This also has not been a problem (except that it makes Daddy really nervous) as Aaron is navigating stairs very well.

He is in a mess of different sizes - everything from 18 months to 3T depending on the item type and brand. He wears 8 in some shoes and 9 in others. He wears a 4 or a 5 in diapers. He is definitely tall and skinny with big feet.

He knows 11 colors and a few letters by sight. He can count to seven. He knows all of the Sesame Street characters (is that a skill?) and corrected Kimmie and I the other day when we called Zoe by the wrong name. (I find this somewhat impressive since he has never actually seen Sesame Street).

He loves to be outside, he loves his trucks and he loves his rocks. My living room is constantly covered in trucks and rocks. He has a box of rocks that he got for Christmas from Grandpa Tom and Grandma Sheri and it is the favorite inside activity. He also LOVES books. He loves to read and he loves to be read to.



He is a talking fool. There are about half of the letter sounds that he can't say, so he substitutes a 'd' sound or a 'b' sound or a 'y' sound. He also often only says the first syllable of word. Therefore, a lot of words sound exactly alike. I think Jory and I are the only ones that can understand him most of the time, but he gets better every day. He definitely practices a lot!

He is a sweet boy with a sweet heart and we love him so much!

3 Months Old

Our Princess is three months old today!

Abby is a sweet, happy girl. She is always smiling, it seems. She loves to interact with people and she loves to be held - by anyone, really.

She is wearing 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. She has really little feet, I think. I don't know that for sure, but that's my guess.

She rolled from her stomach to her back three times this week, but she's not real focused on learning new skills or getting mobile. She just likes to smile and coo. She definitely seems to be a social being! She gets real excited when someone comes close to her. She'll just 'talk' away. She still loves tummy time, but she just mostly hangs out there watching people.

She eats every three hours during the day. She takes three naps during the day of 1 1/2 hours each. She goes to bed at 7pm and usually sleeps until 5am. She eats briefly at 5 and goes back to sleep until between 7:30 and 8.

Abby is a fun baby! We love interacting with her. It's been amazing to watch how she has grown and changed so quickly.

I love my Papa

We went to Kimmie and Papa's on Wednesday. Papa came home around lunch time to see the babies and I got these pictures of him holding Abby. Abby absolutely loves to be held by Papa!

Sweet Babies

Sweet Meg introduced me to the concept of DEAP (Drop Everything and Pray) more than two years ago. Yesterday I was definitely compelled to Go DEAP. Leigh Anne and Matt Mahone are an exceptional couple that we know through Sunday School (and BSF and Men's Prayer Group and MOPS). They are very involved in the church which is impressive considering their children are 6, 4, 2 and 5 months!

I'm a little in awe of Leigh Anne (who was one of the first people to bring me a meal when Abby was born despite the fact that she had a two month old who was still waking up once or twice a night and three other kids who were having a time of the cold and flu season), but she would be embarrassed if she knew that. And Jory secretly worships Matt a little bit since he played football for Texas A&M, but Matt would be embarrassed if he knew that.

Anyway, this is just a wonderful godly couple that we care about who have four beautiful children. Their oldest, Maylee, has been sick for a couple of weeks and they have dragged her from doctor to doctor to emergency room to nurse trying to get a diagnosis. Thankfully they didn't give up because when she was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis she was taken by ambulance from the doctor's office to Cook Children's in Fort Worth. We received an e-mail yesterday that she was having emergency brain surgery. She came through that very well, but is still in PICU and will be in the hospital a minimum of six weeks with antibiotics being given by IV. Can you imagine???

When I received the e-mail that Maylee was being taken into BRAIN SURGERY I immediately decided to Go DEAP and I grabbed my son's hands and told him that we had to pray for Maylee Mahone. He immediately bowed his head and closed his eyes and he remained still and silent as I prayed for this sweet girl. And in that moment, holding my boy's precious hands, I cried. I am so thankful for these precious, healthy, loving babies. It is humbling and convicting to put the things that I worry about and get upset about up against our friends waiting while doctors open their child's head. We will continue to pray for the Mahones and will continue to thank God for the blessings in our lives.

I was trying to get Abby's picture in this dress and bloomers that Wendy gave us yesterday - I absolutely LOVE this! I was having some trouble getting a good picture of the dress, but the pictures just made me laugh! Whatcha talkin bout, Willis???

What I got for Mother's Day

It's a bracelet with my babies' names on it! I love it!

I truly adore this gift and I had a fabulous Mother's Day. I hope every one of you did, too.

Happy Girl

Abby loves to have her picture taken. I have very clear memories of Aaron at this age and he decidedly did not like the camera. This girl sees a camera and she is all smiles - I love it!

It was cold this weekend so I took the opportunity to put her in my favorite outfit, but as you can see she is outgrowing her three month clothes. I am working on rearranging her closet.

Abby is just doing great. She is a relaxed, flexible happy baby and she is a JOY.
