More of August

The second week of August we didn't do anything exciting. We were catching up on everything we didn't do the first week of August. Aaron and Abby had lots of play time around the house and Aaron made this boat from a box and he and Abby would rock in the waves!

On Friday we got out and met Leslie and Catherine and Grace for lunch at Chick-Fil-A. These are three of Aaron's favorite people. It was so nice to see them and I hate that summer is about to end along with our opportunities to have lunch with these precious girls.

That night, Mimi and Grandad came over to give Aaron a very cool toy to make his collar bone feel better. Of course, at this point you can't even tell he's been hurt!

Abby had a great time, too!

Blog Catch Up

I know that I am pitifully behind on my blogging. I will be catching up for a little while. These pictures are from the first week of August. Aaron broke his collar bone on July 31 (Sunday morning) and that was a pretty hard week. He was in a lot of pain and needed a lot of help. Fortunately, my friend Ann's daughter Rachel was set to stay with us Monday through Friday that week while Ann went out of town. Rachel is ten and is WONDERFUL. I love her and she loves babies. She was a huge help that week. We didn't do hardly anything and I didn't take very many pictures and I felt bad about that. But by Thursday things were getting back to normal and we headed over to John and Kim's. The pool wasn't available that morning as it had been worked on, but Aaron got in some sand box time and did some watering. That night Jory and I took all of the kids to Souper Salad.

On Friday we finally got out and about with Rachel. We did some shopping at Kohl's and Old Navy and had a nice time. The kids definitely weren't ready to see her go.

After we dropped her off Aaron wanted Chick-Fil-A and he couldn't even wait to get into the house to eat it!

This picture has been on here before, but it was taken right before Rachel left. Rachel dressed Abby up in sequined shoes and a hat and was teaching her how to walk in a pageant. Abby LOVED it! The kids both really enjoyed having Rachel here and I did, too.

We don't have any pictures from the weekend of the 6th and 7th. We caught up on rest and family time and worked around the house.

Six Month Well Check

Abby had her six month appointment yesterday and it went great. She looks good - and tall! She measured 28 inches which is what Aaron was at this age. That's really tall for a boy, but I guess it's unheard of for a girl. The print-out I was given put her in the 100th percentile for height. That completely confused me. Aaron was often in the 99th which meant that 99% of boys his age were shorter than he. Does this mean that 100% of 6 month old girls are shorter than Abby??? In any case, she is long, lean and healthy. She weighs 16 pounds (60th percentile).

She has been eating rice cereal or oatmeal after most of her feedings, but we tried green beans today. She did not like them. She spit them out. Repeatedly. She is still nursing every three hours during the day. Most nights she eats at around 6pm and not again until about 5:30 am. She is taking a nap around nine and one at around one.

She is sitting up and she is crawling! It's a slow crawl - more of a scoot or an army crawl, but she can get from one side of the room to another. She can also get in a sitting position, so when you go to get her from the crib after she awakes she is always sitting up waiting on you! She loves her toys! She will definitely work to get toys that are out of reach. She still loves her fingers.

She is wearing a size 2 diaper and 6 mo or 9 mo clothes. She smiles a lot and she loves to watch her brother! We love this little girl!

29 Month Interview

I had such a good time with the interview that I gave Aaron a couple of weeks ago that I decided I would repeat it every month on his birthday to see how his answers changed. They were pretty similar this time to the last time, but it was still fun to do. I took out the question about movies since he's never seen a movie and I replaced it with who's your favorite person. At the bottom of this post I put a picture of something Aaron built with Legos. He is SUPER into Legos right now. He builds houses, cars and backhoes. He also makes towers and train tracks.

Ow! That hurt me!

Well, we shook things up a bit in the Allen Household this weekend. On Sunday morning at 3:30 a thud upstairs woke Jory straight up. The crying that followed was what woke me up, but Jory was already halfway up the stairs by then. Yes, Aaron has fallen out of the bed! He ended up in the ER with a broken collar bone!

The best part of this whole story is when we called for an assist. Yes, I called my dad in the middle of the night! Thankfully he pointed us in the right direction and when it was determined that his grandson had indeed broken a bone, Grandpa Tom ordered up a purple popsicle!
