Aaron

These are pictures that Erin got of Aaron when we were doing the special session with Aaron and Abby this month. Right after that, he changed into a different outfit (he wanted to wear a longall, but we compromised on which one) and had his own session for his birthday. I'll post those pictures tomorrow.

 

 

Abby

Most of the pictures Erin took this month were of Aaron because he celebrated his fourth birthday this month, but she did grab a couple of Little Miss.

I LOVE the top one.  We ended up getting a large print of it and it is stunning.

Family Fun Saturday

Family Fun Saturday was supposed to start with the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Nash Farm.  We have gone every year since Aaron was barely walking and we LOVE it.  We've been looking so forward to it.  It was raining this morning so it was postponed until this coming Saturday.  Our house was very sad.  Abby had on her bunny dress and she kept picking up her bucket and going to the door.  Aaron was asking all morning if Nash Farm would do the hunt.  It was a big bummer, and we were all ready to go when we learned the news so we had to go somewhere.

The kids looked at fish and the waterfall and watched a bit of a fishing show.

Then we headed to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese.  Carson, in Aaron's class at school, had invited us to his 4th Birthday.

After naps we went to Grapevine Mills Mall for a little bit.  Aaron watched the fish at Rainforest Cafe's store.

Then we went to Bonefish Grill for dinner.  It is new in Southlake and we hadn't thought a thing about it, but Grandma Sheri told us it is sooo good and that we had to go try the Bang Bang Shrimp.

They had a really good kid's meal.  And the Bang Bang Shrimp was good.

We went early so it was empty, but it was super busy when we left.  I guess it is popular. The kids get crayons and can draw on the paper table cloth.  Fun!

We had a fun day despite the cool drizzly weather!

Sizing it up

Lately I have been in a perpetual state of closet frustration when it comes to the kids.  It seems like nothing fits right.  It's too short in this size, too baggy in that one.  I stand in front of full closets saying they have nothing to wear. I decided to look up some children sizing charts to see if I was shopping wrong.

I learned that my children are both in between two sizes. Aaron's weight puts him in 4T and his height puts him in 5T.  I know this because his 4T pants are all too short, but 5Ts are so baggy in the waist that they sag and become too long.

4T shirts are too short on his long torso and 5Ts are so baggy and I am continually double rolling his long sleeves.

My sweet Abigail is even worse.  Her weight puts her smack in the middle of 18-24 month, but her height is on the highest end of 2T.  Here's how this looks: I gave away all of her 24 month jeans because they were too short.  I tried her 2T jeans on her cinched on the tightest notch and could pull them right over her hips without unbuttoning or unzipping then.

When it comes to dresses, 24 months are too short.  When you find a dress that seems long enough (today's dress styles are pretty long for little girls) it's too big all over. She can swim in dresses that work lengthwise and sleeveless dresses slip right off of her shoulders  - she literally walks out of them!

I am happy for my children that they are tall and skinny.  But I foresee years of shopping frustrations with these string beans!

Dad's Day

In January, Jory went to Dad's Day at Aaron's school.  This picture was taken there and it was sent home this week made into a refrigerator magnet.  I loved it so much that I emailed his teacher for an electronic copy.  I love how happy Aaron is to be spending the day with his Daddy.  He has such pure joy on his face any time he and his Daddy are doing something together!

Lunch with Daddy

The kids love to meet their Daddy for lunch.  They both get so excited and talk about it all day.  This was taken at Aaron's favorite restaurant, Souper Salad.

On our way to meet Jory Aaron said, "I'm so excited to pick up Daddy.  Because I love him." And after we left he said, "Will you text Daddy and tell him we love you and thank you for meeting us and thank you for taking us to Souper Salad?"

Abby's Words

I realized I have not updated Abby's words since January.  She has 45 now.

Here are the new ones:  Elmo, Thomas (Nano), Mine (My), M&M (emma) - she uses this one to refer to her favorite pajamas that Uncle Doug got her.

We went to the library Sunday after naps.

The kids are so comfortable there.  They know their ways around.  I love it!

Aaron found this book and showed it to me.  I thought it was so cool because I went to John Glenn High School in New Concord, Ohio (where John Glenn grew up).

St. Patrick's Day

We all wore green to church on St. Patrick's Day.  It was so fun to see everyone in their green outfits.

This dress was Katie Grace's.  It's so cute.  It's green and white stripes with cherries on the collar and pocket.  It's huge on Abby, but our green selection is limited, so we rolled with it.  I think Abby looks the best in green, but she has very little.  I guess it's not a big color in little girl clothes.
