We have a Walker

Aaron has been taking steps (AKA stumbling) for several weeks. On his ten month birthday he graduated to walking. He will now deliberately stand up and walk to get what he wants. It takes him quite a while, but he's persistent.

The first thing he walked to was, of course, Brooke. We just found out that in the fall Brooke is moving to Denton to attend UNT. That means that she will only be 30 minutes from where we are planning to live! We are so excited. I told Jory that if we weren't moving and we found out that Brooke was leaving Tyler I probably would have had a meltdown, so this is much better.

As far as our house goes, we had five showings the first week. We got some really good feedback and two couples said they may make offers. However, we have no offers yet, so please keep praying.
Kimmie is coming to see Aaron tomorrow. She is so excited to see him eat like a big boy and see him walk!

10 Months Old

Today is Aaron's 10 month birthday. Just one more of these and then it's the real one! He is at a very fun age. He loves to make people laugh and he's getting a lot of mileage out of Peek-a-boo right now. He also loves to laugh and he will get himself laughing so hard that he'll fall down on the floor and roll around laughing.

He gets around really well. He doesn't take more than a few steps without holding on to something, but between cruising, speed crawling and the walk-crawl, the boy can move.

He can also eat. He still takes four (6 oz) bottles a day, but he also eats a pretty full meal of solid food after each of those. He really likes everything (except apples). He even eats black-eye peas now. He's not a huge fan of chicken (neither is his mama), but he likes ground beef really well and he likes turkey. He LOVES black olives (so does his daddy). He really likes red bell peppers and he's a fan of taco soup. That's good - we have to train him early that salsa goes on everything!

Aaron had his follow up appointment with the ENT Surgeon today. Everything looked great! As far as other stats go, he's about 20 pounds and close to 31 inches long. He is still very tall and skinny.

Baby, it's cold outside!

Can I tell you how many people in Wal-mart said something about Aaron's hat. And, yes, he kept it on the whole time. And he thought the mittens were really funny. He was trying to figure out how to use his fingers!

We are bored to tears here. I have gotten a good bit of the non-essentials in the house packed up. Until we sell the house, though, I probably won't bring down a lot of the wall hangings and books that I normally would have packed by now.

I have absolutely nothing else to tell you. We have to leave one more time today for another house showing then we should be in for the duration. I am going to make a big pot of taco soup. Mr. Aaron loves him some taco soup!

Cold Day

Today Aaron and I went to Allison's house for lunch so that Aaron and Kate could play together. Kate, you may remember, is Aaron's future wife. I have been concerned that our move will cause a strain on Aaron and Kate's relationship. However, it turns out that we may be moving very close to Kate's grandparents. We are also going to be super close to several of Allison's friends and Allison and Kate head to the area quite a bit. So, no worries! HA!

After lunch we came home, took a bath and put on warm jammies. We stayed by the fire the rest of the day. It's cold here. I won't say what the temperature is because I prefer not to be judged by those that live North of the Red River, but it is cold here no matter how cold it is where you live!

Aaron was sad to say goodbye to his Daddy today. We'll be home alone until Sunday afternoon. I'm starting to pack 'non-essentials' into boxes so I am not overwhelmed when it is time to move. I'll do that in the evenings when Aaron is sleeping. During the days we'll just be here playing. Except for Saturday when we have to get out because we have another house showing! YAY! Keep praying for a quick sale.

Busy Day

I took this picture at lunch. Aaron and I met Jory for lunch today at JW Finn's. It's a restaurant that's new (within the past year) and we kept meaning to try it.
Today was the perfect day for it because Aaron and I had to be out of the house for a few hours. We put our house on the market yesterday afternoon and there were three showings scheduled before noon today!

And that is what has been keeping us so busy. We found out on Dec 23 that Jory would be starting a job in Dallas on Feb 1. Of course we were out of town until the 27th and then we had Aaron's tubes and we had to get all the Christmas decorations down and put away, so it has just been in the last week that we have been able to get the house ready to show.

I think Aaron's expression speaks for all of us. This is a very good professional opportunity and we are extremely blessed by it, but we LOVE Tyler and we never anticipated moving. So the last two weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions and to dos. But we know, above all, that God is guiding this process. He has already blessed it in more ways than we could have imagined!

Another big thing from today is that Aaron had his first dentist appointment! Very cool! Dr. Ogletree saw him. She is in our Sunday School class and was so sweet with Aaron. Especially because he hates to open his mouth and he'll bite on anything you put in it - like her finger!
Everything looked great! Aaron is just growing, growing, growing and every day his personality seems more pronounced. He is extremely fun and he loves to make people laugh. I have decided that I am going to video tape his eating this week. It is so sweet and very impressive.

Please pray that our home will sell QUICKLY. Have a blessed week and we will keep you updated.

All is well!

We have managed to worry a lot of people by not Blogging since Aaron's surgery last Tuesday. I can understand that. This week I'll update everyone on what has been keeping us so busy over the last six days, but don't worry. Aaron's surgery went very well and his recovery went very well. We have two friends whose children had negative reactions to the anesthesia with tubes, but Aaron had no issues. You can't tell anything is different with him (I'm not sure if that's good or bad). We have a follow up appointment a week from today.

This is a Union Suit that Grandad bought Aaron for Christmas. I am absolutely in love with it.

New Year's was uneventful around here. No one was awake when the clock struck midnight. We just had a low key evening as a family. On New Year's Day we discovered that Aaron does not like Black-eye peas. Hmmm. Apples and Black-eye peas. Other than that, he'll eat pretty much anything. And...thanks to my friend Jennifer, we have finally got Aaron feeding himself. He is quite the eating champion and is getting very neat about it. We are proud.

Have a blessed week and I will definitely check in again soon!

Done and Home

Thank you so much for all of your prayers! We just got home - these pictures were taken just a few minutes ago. Jory did a last minute PJ change this morning, so Aaron had his surgery in his McQueen Jammies that he got for Christmas in Ohio. Everyone thought he was so cute!

Everything went really well. Aaron did not have an ear infection this morning which was a huge blessing. We are so interested to see the changes in Aaron now that he has the tubes.

Jory took the day off, so we will have a lot of family time today which is nice. Our sweet friend Jennifer who was in Birthing Class with us is bringing us dinner tonight so I don't have to think about that. I am so grateful!

I hope you all have a day as blessed as ours!

Self Feeding at its Finest

Tomorrow Aaron is to wear pajamas to the Surgery Center (he has to be there at 6am). Kimmie insisted that he wear these because "he'll be so cute that he'll get the best treatment possible"! I think he looks pretty cute myself. He'll sleep in these tonight.

Tomorrow the surgery will be some time between 7 and 8am. It should take about 5 minutes. Then they will keep him an hour or two and we'll be home. He will be able to eat as soon as he wakes up from the surgery.

Christmas at Grandad's

We spent yesterday at Grandad and Mimi's and had our Christmas with them. It was wonderful and Aaron had a great time. He also took some major steps in feeding himself (according to Grandad, I just wasn't offering the right snacks - Ha!). Aaron also drank from a Sippy Cup for the first time! It was a big day.

Aaron got very cool presents from Mimi and Grandad - Jory and I were so impressed. I will take pictures of them this week. Grandad picked out this Christmas sweater for Aaron. He wore it to church today. In the picture above, Aaron is smiling at his Grandad. He really enjoyed Grandad and Mimi!

We just had a wonderful Christmas all the way around. We are very blessed in so many ways and we are grateful for all of our family. We hope you enjoyed your Christmas as much as we did!
