Random Updates and No Pictures

  • We had a Great doctor's appointment today! The next Allen had a heartbeat at 151. The doctor said "your uterus is growing great!" She said it really enthusiastically and proudly like I've been working real hard at that.

  • Aaron got another molar. He has twelve teeth now.

  • Here are the words that Aaron says correctly, in context, with no prompting: Mama, Daddy, Papa, Bye, Book, Bowl, Baby, Ball, Dog, No, Milk

  • More people are saying the Next Allen is a girl than a boy. Of course, almost everyone thought Aaron was a girl until the Random Asian Woman came along and changed everyone's minds.

  • I know that if you don't live in Texas you are not fully going to grasp what I am about to say, but Oh My Word. It is HOT. It is really, really hot.

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday. We didn't get out a whole lot last week, but we'll be making up for that in a couple of jam packed weeks to come.

Tuesday September 7, 2010

Today was our day to stay home and clean. This is Aaron dragging a basket of laundry to the bedroom where he helped fold it.

Wednesday September 8, 2010

We were supposed to go to Kimmie's, but Tropical Storm Hermine kept us from that and kept us indoors all day. Lots of Play-do time!

Thursday September 9, 2010
We didn't have any plans today and we just played together all day long!
Friday September 10, 2010
The weather was nice in the morning and we walked to the park. When we got there my friend Janice was there with her kids! How fun!

Saturday September 11, 2010
We all hung around the house. We did a few things around here, but we mostly just enjoyed family time.

Sunday September 12, 2010
After church Jory mowed and then I had a Thirty-one Party to do, so the day was a little broken up, but we had a nice evening together.

Monday September 13, 2010
First day of MOPS! I have been looking so forward to this and it was great! Aaron picked out his outfit and had a wonderful time!

Four Months

I am a little over seventeen weeks pregnant and I will enter my fifth month of pregnancy this week. It's hard to believe that I'm almost halfway done! The top picture was taken yesterday, the bottom picture was taken at the same time with Aaron. They don't look that much different to me, but they sure feel different. I have gained less weight than I had with Aaron (about half!), but I feel like I am showing way more. I feel like maternity clothes may come sooner with this one! Things are going well. After a completely symptom free first trimester, the second trimester (which is supposed to be the easy one) came in with a bang! I was thrown for a loop and was beginning to wonder if maybe I was done with easy pregnancies. But most symptoms are under control now and I am as comfortable as a pregnant woman can be in a State that has not yet received the memo that it is Fall!
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and next month we will have the big sonogram. We are really looking forward to that. We enjoyed so much waiting to find out Aaron's gender until he was born that I am surprised at how excited we are to learn the sex of this baby early. We still have no idea what it may be.

We have a toddler!

Aaron is eighteen months old today! Such a big boy! Words are starting to come and he is beginning to point at things and shout out what they are!
He does most things himself. He is a completely independent eater and eats almost exclusively with a fork or spoon. He drinks from cups with little supervision.

He runs, but he doesn't climb much. He throws balls overhand. He doesn't kick them much. He can walk up and down stairs holding on to a railing, but he prefers to be carried if the stairs are narrow.

He still loves dirt and his sandbox. He still loves to be outside more than anything and he begs for walks in his stroller every day.

He is a happy boy and a very sweet boy.

Project Life Tuesday

It's time for Project Life Tuesday!

Tuesday August 31, 2010

Aaron and I stayed home and cleaned the house and he worked on some house projects!

Wednesday September 1, 2010
We went to Kimmie's for the day. Aaron got some sandbox time and then really enjoyed the pool.
Thursday September 2, 2010
We went to a huge Consignment Sale in Allen and met Ann there. After picking up a bunch of fall clothes for the Little Man we went to Super Target and then lunch at Olive Garden.

After lunch we stopped by Laura's house to pick up a couple of things and since we were only going to be there for a minute I didn't take my camera in. I should have because Aaron completely attacked Braysen in an attempt to give him a hug. Braysen did not like this and crawled away as fast as he could. Aaron saw this as a fun game and took chase! Poor Braysen cried at one point and I don't think we are allowed back.

Friday September 3, 2010
Aaron had his well check up which I already blogged about.

We were home the rest of the day and got a huge surprise when Daddy came home super early from work! Aaron about went out of his skin and is lucky he didn't hurt himself the way he ran down the sidewalk to jump into his Daddy's arms!
Saturday September 4, 2010
Jory went to the deer lease for the opening weekend of Dove. He rode out with Toby and they only stayed the one night. It was nice because Jory's usually gone all of Labor Day weekend and we sure miss him!

Sunday September 5, 2010
Aaron and I drove out to Kimmie and Papa's lakehouse. Jory and Toby were on their way back from the Lease, so we were able to meet and get Jory. As soon as we got to the lake Papa took Aaron on his new wave runner. It was very sweet. Then Aaron did some swimming with Papa. It was a great day.

Monday September 6, 2010
After breakfast we all headed out to the boat.

And Aaron took a little morning nap!

We had such a great time at the lake. We are so blessed!

18 Month Well Check

Aaron had a great doctor's appointment today! These pictures are not actually from today, but from the last two weeks.
We saw Aaron's new pediatrician for the first time. I LOVED her and so did Aaron! What a relief! She was recommended by my friend Leslie who hasn't steered me wrong yet. Aaron did fabulous during the appointment and just giggled his way through all of the poking and prodding.

He's 34 inches (95th percentile) and 28 pounds (75th percentile). He is doing great developmentally and is completely healthy.

He got three of his molars this week and is up to 11 teeth. He loves his Mega Blocks more than anything he owns. He loves his stuffed animals second. He is developing more words and says 'baby' when he sees a baby or a picture of one. He also points to Mama's stomach and says baby. It's awfully sweet. He can say 'Papa' now and he says it a lot.

He is still such a ham and a very sweet boy. He is a big helper at home and he brings us so much joy every day.

Tyler, Day Two

Friday was such a big day! I didn't get very many pictures at Jennifer's house, but we were so excited to see this sweet girl. We went to visit Jennifer and Charlotte before the big party and the time went way too fast. Charlotte was born a few days apart from Aaron and Jennifer and I were in birthing class together. I love these girls! Charlotte and Aaron are completely opposite on skills. They always have been. Charlotte was laughing and babbling long before Aaron and she now has 65 words to his 7. Aaron was walking a month before Charlotte was crawling. It is cute to see them together. They still don't actually play together, but it's fun to just have them in the same room!
Then it was off to Chuck E Cheese! Aaron loved the ride with Chuck E! He had such a good time playing. The party was perfect. It was right when the place opened and it was on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded. I actually got to visit with my friends and Aaron got to enjoy himself without being overwhelmed by crowds.

Charity and John did a great job and it was so good to spend time with them and with my good Tyler friends. I really enjoyed this party.

Aaron did, too!

After 50 minutes of free play the party began. Aaron sat with all the big kids (though he was in a high chair). I was with the adults and got to watch Aaron being such a big boy. He ate his entire lunch with a adult-size plastic fork. Ever three bites or so he would put his fork down, pick up his water with two hands and take a drink. Then he'd carefully put it down and continue eating. I was just amazed watching him. He looked so big to me! He was very good and focused and did great!

This was just a wonderful trip for us!

Tyler, Day One

We loaded up after Aaron's nap last Thursday and headed to Tyler. Abigail's Birthday Party was scheduled for Friday morning. I decided to drive down Thursday night and break up the trip a little bit. I was so excited to get to Tyler and see my friends. It had been a while. I am glad I had the extra time.

Our first stop was Chick-Fil-A! About 15 of us were there, including Aaron's future wife Kate! We met at 5:00 and it was great timing. We were all able to sit together and chat. I had such a good time!

Aaron got to go in the play area for the first time. He didn't actually play on anything, but he got a kick out of being there!

He did figure out how to open the heavy door between the play area and the restaurant and he held it open for all the kids to escape. It was kind of funny, but really not. And it was kind of surreal since, you know, he's seventeen months old! None of the other kids were holding open that big glass door! I swear we are raising a brute.

After dinner we went to Aunt Jane's and had a wonderful time! I didn't take a single picture, but I loved watching Aaron interact with Jane. He just had a ball and when he went to bed Jane and I stayed up and chatted. It was a wonderful evening and well worth the drive.
