It was a real driving tour of Texas Hill Country. We took about 9 hours to get home (Johnson City is 4 hours from our house). It was fabulous. It was the best Mother's Day so far.
Our first stop was Luckenbach. The kids had a great time running around.
And looking at the Roosters
Then we drove to Fredericksburg. Such a sweet town. And we ate at a new restaurant for us - Mihalia's.
The best breakfast tacos!!!!
Then we took a drive. We saw Enchanted Rock and went through several small towns. At one point close to lunch I realized we were only about 30 minutes from where we had started that morning!
Around noon we found Inks Lake State Park. It was so nice. This is Aaron being a horse.
There was a Sand Volley Ball court and the kids played with Jory like they were at the beach - building sand castles. Looking over and watching that was the best Mother's Day moment.
There was also a fun playground. And the park itself was beautiful. We plan to go back.
They also had a food truck so we ordered lunch and ate at a picnic table. It was precious. LOVED this day.
Then we did actually head home. We unloaded, called the moms, visited with a neighbor and put the kids to bed. Then my husband surprised me by going to pick up Italian from a nice restaurant in Southlake for Mother's Day dinner, complete with dessert. Fabulous!
It was a wonderful vacation for everyone!
